ALL IT PRODUCTS ARE MADE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE WHO MAKE THEM

So startlingly obvious, this statement should not really require elaboration.

We were quite happy with our vinyl, but no, we had to have CDs. With those came the tyranny of the “bonus tracks”. Why? For years, decades people have enjoyed their favourite albums, works of art crafted by the original performers. But now some 23 year old who has never heard of the group concerned has decided to stick on a few obscure tracks that the group originally left off for good reason. Or it’s a few “live versions” of the tracks you’ve just listened to.

Then we were told to stream our albums so we could pay again for the albums we already had. As the Tommy Lee Jones character in Men in Black comments, “Looks like I’ll have to buy the White Album again”. Not only that, your device now tells you you’re not listening to the music you have come to love and cherish over the years, oh no, you’re listening to the 2012 remix.

And it’s not just music. Who actually asked for cars without handbrakes? If you can afford to splash out on a higher end car now you can have one where the headlight goes off as you indicate. So just as you’re going round the corner in the dark you can’t see. Brilliant.
